About the event
The Waites of Gloucester is a group modelled on the band of musicians run by the City of Gloucester in the 16th and 17th centuries. The four members of the group play a variety of instruments (crumhorns, recorders, curtals, pipes, shawms etc). For this performance, entitled "Gentlemen and Players", they will be playing music from some lesser-known Elizabethan and Jacobean composers, some of whom (the Gentlemen) were members of the Chapel Royal, and some of whom (the Players) were organists in various English and Irish cities.
Performers: Simon Pickard, Fenella Spiers, Mark Venn, Rachel Tedd.
